  7. Have any import/export filters been modified or improved in Ami Pro 2.0?
  8.  
  9. SOLUTION: 
  10.  
  11. Lotus Word Processing Division maintains a disk of modified filters that are 
  12. compatible with Ami Pro 2.0.  Contact the Lotus Development Corporation Word 
  13. Processing Division Customer Service Department at 404-399-5505 and request 
  14. the Ami Pro release 2.0 filters disk.  The latest filters for Ami Pro 2.0 are 
  15. also available electronically from the Lotus WPD bulletin board at 404-395-
  16. 7707 and from library 2 [Ami Pro/LotusWrite] on the LotusWP CompuServe forum. 
  17. Download the file FILT20.EXE from either location.  The filters listed below 
  18. are included on this disk.  Ami Pro 2.0 filters which have not been modified 
  19. since the last filters disk are not included.

  43. HOW TO INSTALL THE UPDATED FILTERS 
  44.  
  45.   1. From the Windows Program Manager, load File Manager.
  46.   2. Copy FILT20.EXE to the Ami Pro program directory (this is usually 
  47.      C:\AMIPRO) on your hard drive.  You will need approximately 1,439,106 
  48.      bytes of available disk space (size of the FILT20.EXE file plus the sizes 
  49.      of the files that will be extracted from the FILT20.EXE) on the hard 
  50.      drive where the Ami Pro program is located.
  51.   3. In File Manager, run the file FILT20.EXE from the Ami Pro program 
  52.      directory on the hard drive.  This is a self-extracting file which will 
  53.      place the individual filter files on your hard drive.  Note: There will 
  54.      be several warning messages during the extracting process asking if 
  55.      certain files should be overwritten.  Specify Y for Yes to each of those 
  56.      messages.  There will also be several messages indicating that files are 
  57.      being exploded.  These are normal messages displayed by the extraction 
  58.      program as files are being extracted from the EXE file to the target 
  59.      location (your hard drive).
  60.   4. Select the file names AMIDW.INI, AMIFONT.INI and AMIWP.INI.
  61.   5. Move these files (do not copy) from the Ami Pro program directory to your 
  62.      Windows program directory.
  63.   6. Delete the file FILT20.EXE from the Ami Pro program directory.
  64.   7. Close the File Manager.

  66. HOW TO MODIFY THE AMIPRO.INI FILE
  67.  
  68.   1. If Ami Pro is currently running, press ALT + F4 to exit Ami Pro.
  69.   2. From the Windows Program Manager run Notepad (there is usually an icon 
  70.      for Notepad in one of the Program Manager groups). 
  71.   3. In Notepad choose File / Open. 
  72.   4. Specify the file name AMIPRO.INI in the Windows program directory and 
  73.      choose OK. 
  74.   5. Look for the application lines.  The following is a listing of the 
  75.      application lines that should be present in AMIPRO.INI:

  122.   8. Add the following application lines after the application41= line typing 
  123.      these lines exactly as shown:
  124.      application42=Word for Windows 2.x,T,.DOC,WWORD20.FLT
  125.      application43=Excel 4.0,X,.XLS,EXCELFLT.FLT,Biff4
  126.      Note: When editing the application lines, remember that the numbers 
  127.      (application1, application2, etc.) must be in consecutive order.   
  128.   9. Choose File / Save to save the changes. 
  129.  10. Press ALT + F4 to exit Notepad.
